Ten individuals sentenced of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has convicted ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of disseminating fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the husband and wife's 24-year age gap.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the defendants. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A longstanding unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's biological sex.
Their lawsuit contends that Owens disregarded any factual proof that refuted her assertions opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these assertions on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The couple tied the knot in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
