Three Athletes In Contention for Young Sports Personality Prize
Announced recently
English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the this year's Young Sports Personality of the Year award.
These three athletes have been recognised for their exceptional achievements over the last year.
Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses win Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a unprecedented innings.
Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his remarkable rise.
The three contenders were announced live on a popular morning radio program.
The 2025 recipient will be unveiled on the prestigious sports ceremony show on Thursday, 18 December.
The event will be broadcast from 7 PM GMT.
Michelle Agyemang
Age: 19 Sport: Football
Just three months after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a pivotal and thrilling role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.
She came off the bench to score key tying goals in both the quarter-final and semi-final.
Her incredible contributions led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.
Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the best young player in Europe.
She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.
Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.
"Being on the shortlist for this award is an honour," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."
Littler's Profile
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
Littler's 2025 began in sensational style as - aged 17 - he became the earliest-ever winner in history.
He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.
His success continued - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the maiden occasion.
At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, shattering the previous record.
"Being nominated for the honour once more is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a highlight for me and I've had another unbelievable 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."
The Cricket Sensation

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and surged to prominence with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.
Her sublime 42-ball century in The Hundred is the fastest by an English woman in T20s.
It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a top-tier competition.
Perrin ended up as runner-up in the batting rankings and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.
"I'm deeply humbled to be shortlisted for the young athlete award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it inspires more young women to get into cricket."
